Does anyone have experience using B2, and replacing their personal Backblaze with it entirely (by backing up to the home server?)? Am I misunderstanding how B2 works (i.e. I'm calculating the cost wrong)?Īre there other services that are as easy to use and dependable as Backblaze that don't mind home servers using unlimited backup? Look, if I was running a business or something truly meaty, I'd just use B2 and backup all my other devices to the server, but given that I'm not, I'd rather use something that costs less. All I need is an online backup to store the files in case of catastrophe (like what happened with my Storage Space), I don't need to grab files other than when I'd need a complete or partial recovery. It would be mostly used as a file server, so paying $5/TB/Mo seems a bit heavy, given that once my previous Storage Space is fully recovered, I'll have about 8TB of data already, meaning, if I understand how B2 works, I'd be paying $40+/Mo going forward, which is steep.
